Hi Everyone,

This is our season shooting off into 2010, into the warmth of bounty, adventure, chance and juicy ripe harvests to come. Im so glad we are back and you are all here, the new folks and the the seasoned 2nd and 3rd year folks too. To me CSA is one of the coolest things ever. If we were just growing food for say Chico Natural, it would be OK but doing CSA is the best because we get to know all of you so well. We get to know what you are like and what you like to eat and don't like. The surveys we did at the end of last year helped so much to know this, from them I know some of you go crazy for kale and some go crazy for turnips (only some.. but I found a new recipe so I like them again so when we have them I will share it with you) . What I am saying is that I feel so lucky that I get to farm and also know all of you personally and I know you are eating the food we grow. I love that you all come out to the farm every week. And so you know you are all welcome to take a wonder out into the fields when you come out for pick ups. Ask for a little tour if you like we love showing off our nicely weeded fields but will probably walk you by the ones that are full of weeds with out mention.

SO thanks to you all who put your faith in our hands for growing some of the nutrition for you and your family. Spring time: This is the time where everything is new. All the crops on the table were planted in 2010. The fields are growing and getting ready for our forks. The broccoli plants are getting ready and the fennel bulbs could be ready next week. This is the time of year where a little heat and rain and frost make a huge difference. All the leaves and new on the trees around us and little butter flies and coming out now. I saw a bunny yesterday afternoon as it was hailing down on me. Loved every minute of it.

Right now as I write Lee and Micheal are out there planting our first rows of cucumbers and zucchini. They are putting in regular green zukes and cukes, but also golden zukes and lemon cukes.. Ah cucumber salad seems so far away from cold springs and hail...

In your Share today:

a bunch of spinach a bag of salad mix a bunch of kale a bunch of assorted radishes a big head of tender lettuce a bunch of bok-choi a bunch of chard some parsley

Braised Asian Greens:

I may have written this favorite to you all already.. but its my favorite greens recipe. Take some garlic fry it in oil, then take your coarsely chopped greens and chuck them in with some soy sauce for no more than 2 minutes, just until they get soft.
